So today Fiona started her first ballet class. I love watching her and learning about her. How she listens, what pulls her attention, when she looks to me and when she doesn't. She is 2 and who she is and how she interacts with the world is just being revealed to me and I love it. I stood next to a MOM who's 3 year old was not doing what she was supposed to.

MOM:

" I knew she couldn't do ballet"

"she's a mess"

"Carrie, what are you doing?"

"STRAIGHTEN YOUR LEGS!"

and on and on.

This MOM was beside herself watching her daughter not follow the rules, not be like the others.

If this is how this mom speaks to her daughter in front of a stranger, what does she says in the privacy of her home? Or worse, what does she say to herself?

Celebrate your child's uniqueness and while you're at it, celebrate yours.
